OpenAI
OpenAI is the U.S. AI company behind ChatGPT and DALL-E, and helped ignite the generative AI boom in late 2022.
OpenAI is an American AI company that created ChatGPT. It started as a non-profit research institute in 2015 with the goal of developing AI that is beneficial to humanity, and ChatGPT, released at the end of 2022, became the service that attracted the fastest number of users in history, opening the era of generative AI. It created the GPT series, image generation DALL-E, video generation Sora, etc.
It is currently a company that serves as a reference point in the AI industry in terms of technology, number of users, and topicality. Microsoft is the largest investor and is led by CEO Sam Altman. It is leading the astronomical investment in infrastructure, such as the large-scale data center project Stargate, and is raising the level of AI competition.
Meanwhile, it is the company that is the most controversial due to the transition from a non-profit to a profit-oriented structure, the dismissal and reinstatement of Altman on the board of directors, copyright lawsuits, and the successive resignations of co-founders.
