SoftBank is a Japanese investment company led by Chairman Masayoshi Son and is the largest investor in the OpenAI and Stargate projects.

SoftBank is a Japanese investment holding company led by Chairman Masayoshi Son. It runs the Vision Fund, the world's largest technology investment fund, and is famous for making legendary profits from his initial investment in Alibaba. It is also the majority shareholder of ARM, a semiconductor design company.

In the AI era, Softbank is a big player making the most aggressive bets. It made the world's largest investment in OpenAI and became a key investor in the Stargate project to build a large AI data center in the United States. It is a strategy to invest in the entire AI value chain, including ARM for AI chip design, AI robots, and AI infrastructure.

As there has been controversy over investment judgment due to past WeWork investment failures, market evaluations are divided as to whether this AI all-in strategy will be an Alibaba-level success or the peak of a bubble.
