Rebellion
Rebellion is a Korean AI semiconductor design startup and a domestic AI chip unicorn company.
Rebellion is a Korean fabless startup that designs AI semiconductors (NPUs) for data centers. It became the first domestic AI chip company to become a unicorn (corporate value of more than 1 trillion won), and was reorganized as a company that consolidated domestic AI semiconductor capabilities by merging with Sapion, an AI chip company affiliated with SK Telecom.
The flagship product, Atom, and its follow-up chip, Rebel, are specialized in AI inference, and have shown their technological prowess through cooperation with Samsung Electronics foundry and the installation of HBM. Its strength is that it is building an actual commercial track record through investments by large domestic companies such as KT and data center verification.
It is often mentioned as a leading Korean player in the national demand to reduce dependence on NVIDIA and the so-called AI semiconductor sovereignty debate, and is also pursuing entry into overseas markets such as the Middle East.
